On what was a busy weekend for commitments, Rutgers was able to add Bridgewater-Raritan offensive tackle Zachary Miseo, who accepted a preferred walk-on invitation to play for his home state university.
The 6-foot-5, 280-pound Miseo told Scarlet Nation why he chose Rutgers over a scholarship offer from his other finalist, the University of Rhode Island.
“The overall opportunity I was presented to play football at a high level, while receiving a great education. I visited this weekend and I really enjoyed it, which led to my final decision. I had the chance to talk to the coaches, while learning and seeing everything I needed to in the school.”
Miseo also mentioned what stood out the most to him while on campus.
“The overall support for the program showed in all the improvements they are making. Along with the environment that the coaches are building, it makes me feel like it is place I can thrive.”
When word of Miseo’s decision began to circulate, he immediately received a lot of positive feedback.
“The coaches were happy with my decision and want to see how I progress as a player,” Miseo said. “Being so close to home makes my family happy because they can easily attend games. The same with my friends.”
Miseo becomes the second Bridgewater-Raritan player to join Rutgers as kicker Justin Davidovicz also accepted a preferred walk-on invitation a week ago.
“We talked a lot throughout the process, but in the end we both knew we would go and make the decision that was best for ourselves. It just happened to be at the same place,” Miseo said.
And what can fans expect out of Miseo at the college level?
“Someone who is going to work as hard as they can no matter the situation, in order to help the team win,” he said.
