Rutgers baseball will stay on the road this weekend as they head west for a four game series versus Grand Canyon University starting on Friday.
The Scarlet Knights opened the season with a 2-1 record after winning two out of three versus Kennesaw State, while Grand Canyon has a 2-2 record to begin the season with a win over Nebraska and a win over San Diego State.
With that being said, here is the weekend rotation for Rutgers versus Grand Canyon.

GAME ONE....
Redshirt freshman right-handed pitcher Justin Shadek will be on the mound for Rutgers and pitched well in his collegiate debut. He threw 4.0 innings allowing three hits, no runs, two walks, and five strikeouts.
Junior right-handed pitcher Isaac Lyon will get the start for Grand Canyon on Friday night. The 2024 First Team All-WAC pitcher had a rough first game versus Vanderbilt, throwing 4.0 innings, allowing seven hits, four runs, no walks, and four strikeouts.
GAME TWO....
True freshman right-handed pitcher Landon Mack will get the start for Rutgers in their first game of Saturday’s doubleheader. He had a quality collegiate debut throwing 4.0 innings allowing three hits, no runs, no walks, and three strikeouts.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Garrett Ahern will be the Antelopes starting pitcher for the game and the Arizona native pitched very well in a win versus San Diego State. He pitched 6.0 innings allowing four hits, one run, no walks, and seven strikeouts.
GAME THREE....
In the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader, Rutgers will hand the ball to junior left-handed pitcher Preston Prince. The Niagara transfer performed well in his Scarlet Knights debut last week, throwing 3.0 innings allowing one hit, no runs, two walks, and four strikeouts.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Connor Mattison will get the ball for the Antelopes after a strong performance versus Austin Peavy, but got a no-decision. He pitched 5.0 innings allowing three hits, no runs, no walks, and five strikeouts.
GAME FOUR....
In the series finale, Rutgers has not announced their starting pitcher yet, but the Scarlet Knights will likely trot out whatever pitcher that hasn’t thrown in the series up until this point to start the game. It could also be a bullpen game if the Scarlet Knights have enough arms available.
Junior left-handed pitcher Chance Key will get the nod for Grand Canyon in the series finale. The JUCO transfer made his first start for the Antelopes last weekend and earned a loss after throwing 3.0 innings allowing seven hits, three runs, one walk, and one strikeout.
