Rutgers Baseball opened the 2025 season on the road versus Kennesaw State on Friday, as they split a double header, losing game one and winning game two.

Now the Scarlet Knights could've won both games, but they blew a 3-0 lead in game one allowing the Owls to score five unanswered. However they bounced back big time in game two to go on and win 3-1.

In that second game, freshman right-handed pitcher Landon Mack made his collegiate debut and earned the start for Rutgers. He pitched four innings allowing just three hits, no runs, no walks, and three strikeouts.

Senior right-handed relief pitcher Zach Gleason made his Rutgers debut in relief for Mack and earned his first win of the season after throwing three innings while allowing four hits, one run, one walk, and three strikeouts.

Once Gleason’s day was over, junior right-handed pitcher Mike Timberlake shut the door for the Scarlet Knights. The Montclair State transfer earned his first save of the season, pitching in two innings allowing one hit, no runs, one walk, and one strikeout.

The Scarlet Knights offense didn’t do a whole lot at the plate, but they did enough to win, scoring three runs on four hits. Third baseman Pablo Santo went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and walk. Outfielder Peyton Bonds went 1-for-4 with an infield single, and shortstop Yomar Carreras went 1-for-4 with an RBI single.
