Rutgers has added its second quarterback commit to the class of 2018 as Sean Chambers of Kerman High School (Kerman, Calif.) announced his intentions today.
“I chose Rutgers because of the area and also because of how all the coaches are buying into Coach [Chris] Ash's ideas,” Chambers told Scarlet Nation. “Some of those ideas are giving the players the very best, so the players give their best.”
The commitment came following a multi-day visit that took place last weekend and Chambers detailed how that trip went.
“I went on a tour of the campus, visited to business school, watched film with Coach [Jerry] Kill and spoke with Coach Ash. The visit was awesome. And I loved every second of it. I talked mostly with Coaches Kill and [Lester] Erb. They were telling me how I would fit in and what they think I can contribute to the team. My favorite part of the visit was meeting Coach Ash. He's awesome. I can tell people are buying into what he's saying.”
Chambers was first identified by Erb during a camp in his home state.
“I met Coach Erb at a Nevada Bullard Satellite camp at Bullard High School in California. He saw me throw and really liked it,” Chambers said. “Ever since then, he's always talked to me. When he got released at Nevada, he told me he wouldn't forget about me. Then, I got a call one day and it was Coach Erb telling me a guy named Coach Kill wanted to talk to me. Loyalty and honesty are a huge deal to me and Coach Erb has been loyal and honest from the jump. “
Chambers joins fellow Californian Jalen Chatman as Rutgers’ second quarterback commit in the class of 2018 and will be on campus in a little more than six months.
“It doesn't bother me at all that they have another quarterback committed,” Chambers said. “I plan on enrolling early and I plan on visiting again for my official visit.”
