Rutgers continues to add more New York prospects as it received a commitment today from class of 2018 athlete Kessawn Abraham of Erasmus High School in Brooklyn. Abraham spoke with Scarlet Nation prior to publicly announcing his decision and explained why he chose Rutgers.
“I committed to Rutgers because of the atmosphere and the coaching staff. I believe is what the staff says. I believe I will be coached to my full potential and I like the idea of playing close to home.”
Abraham also pointed out some important components that extended beyond football.
“Not only does the staff care about you on the field, but off the field as well,” Abraham said. “One way is the ‘Life after the game’ program. It sets you up with opportunities outside the game. Also, I'm going to play in one of the most competitive conferences in the NCAA, so that's a plus. My play will go up to another level.”
The staff has also been keeping in constant contact with Abraham.
They check up on me almost every day and when I get there,” he said. “The whole staff shows a lot of love. I talk to Coach [Bill] Busch the most, then it's Coach [Chris] Ash, but when I'm out there I'm always chopping it up with all the coaches; great vibes over at Rutgers. I speak with Coach Busch a lot he tells me that he just wants to coach me.”
Joining the recent wave of Rutgers commits, Abraham is looking to coerce some other prospects to join him at Rutgers.
“I don't have any specific recruits that I want to get to join me at Rutgers, but I'll definitely be getting my recruiting on.”
