The Rutgers coaching staff landed a big commitment today when it earned a verbal pledge from Vineland class of 2018 running back Isaih Pacheco.

The talented South Jersey prospect spoke with Scarlet Nation about his commitment and explained why he chose Rutgers today during an unofficial visit to campus.

“I was really feeling Coach Ash. They had a plan for me over there. I am really excited to take my talents there and stay on the map with Jersey and rep my hometown of Vineland.”

Coming into today’s visit, Pacheco had an idea he would commit.

“I had intentions to because of the way I was feeling about the coaches,” Pacheco said. “But I waited until I saw everything before I committed. I feel like I am very accepted at Rutgers and we are going to turn this thing around. It is not personal, it’s business."

Pacheco also talked about Rutgers being the right fit for him.

“They have a lot of guys in the NFL. Their record last year didn’t matter,” he said. “I just feel like that is going to be the best fit for me and my family. I think I can do some great things there and the coaches are going to turn that thing around. I have faith and I believe in them.”

Now that Pacheco is committed, he is planning on recruiting on Rutgers’ behalf.

“We just have to keep the Jersey guys home, like Coach Ash always says to me. Coach Ash is also going to be there for you after football and he wants to see his players successful on and off the field.”

Staying close to home was also very important for Pacheco as it factored into his decision.

“It is going to be very exciting to see my mom come up to my games. When she sees me in that jersey, she is going to be excited for me. I am also going to be one of the first people in my family to even go to college. This is a big part of my recruitment and education.”
