It was a big morning for Rutgers as it landed a commitment from Barringer (Newark, N.J.) junior quarterback Zamar Wise, who is the No.10-ranked prospect in NJ for the class of 2019. Head coach Chris Ash has spearheaded the recruiting for Wise and this provides a huge start to the RU recruiting class of 2019.
“Rutgers is putting in a strong effort right now,” Wise told Scarlet Nation after he committed. “When they offered me and the way they treat me it has been like family.”
Wise has been a frequent visitor to Rutgers and was also on hand for the the last home game against Morgan State.
“They had a good defensive line against Washington,” Wise said. “I really like the new quarterback they have. I don't know Jonathan. He's a really big quarterback.”
The decision for Wise was not one that was made on a whim as he has gotten to know Rutgers and the staff rather well.
“I feel pretty comfortable up there. I visited a lot,” Wise said.
