Three-star WR EJ Turner talks Rutgers commitment

Rutgers landed another commitment today when three-star wide receiver EJ Turner of Cartersville, Ga., opted to join the Scarlet Knights class of 2018.

The commitment came as a bit of a surprise while Turner was on campus today for a Rutgers Barbecue and he spoke with Scarlet Nation about the commitment.

“It was a spur of the moment,” Turner said of his decision. “I felt ready to commit when I talked to the head coach [Chris Ash].”

The Rutgers staff also made no secret about making Turner a priority.

“The coaches pushed me and made me feel like home and the campus,” Turner said. “What makes Rutgers stand out to me is the relationship with the staff and their business major is great.”

Rutgers started to recruit the Georgia area when wide receivers coach Jafar Williams joined the staff last year and now those efforts are paying off.

“I told coach Williams [I committed] and he was hype and very surprised and all the coaches congratulated me.”

Turner also held offers from Kansas State, Syracuse, Cincinnati and a host of other FBS programs.

He added some thoughts now that his recruitment is over.

“It feels great to be committed and it is a relief. This ends it.”
