St. Joe’s (Hammonton) defensive tackle Sean Morris was among the South Jersey contingent on hand for the Rutgers junior day yesterday. He was a major contributor to St. Joe’s state championship season and spoke about his recent trip to Rutgers.

“It went well, I learned a lot about the school that I didn’t know,” Morris said. “The best part was getting a chance to see what there workout is like and seeing some of the players and coaches in action.”

Morris was able to spend some time with new Rutgers defensive line coach Corey Brown, who was just hired as part of the staff.

“He seemed like a great coach from the conversation that I with him,” Morris said of Brown. “He was an easy person to talk to and have conversation with which was great especially since it was my first time meeting him.”

There was also talk about a potential offer going out to Morris in the future.

“A lot of the coaches were saying they were very excited about me and that after the defensive line coach gets some time to look at some film on me, he should be in touch,” Morris said.

Recruiting is starting to pick up for Morris, who has been hearing quite a bit from Maryland and Temple, in addition to some other regional programs.

This past season, he finished with 43 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
