Rutgers to host UMass in 2019 season opener

Rutgers has announced a new opponent for the 2019 season as the Scarlet Knights will kick off that campaign against UMass inside High Point Solutions Stadium on Saturday, August 31. This is a one-game event and not a home and home series. However, Scarlet Nation has learned there is the possibility that a road game could be added between Rutgers and UMass in the future.

The Scarlet Knights and Minutemen have met on four previous occasions, splitting those contests. The last time the two schools played was in 1978 when Rutgers earned a road victory by the final score of 21-11.
