Rutgers Football was dealt a brutal blow on Wednesday as head coach Greg Schiano confirmed that wide receiver Chris Long will miss the remainder of the season with an injury.

Coming into the season, Long was expected to be one of the top receivers for the Scarlet Knights new look offense under new OC Kirk Ciarrocca. However Long was only able to participate in one game, the season opener versus Northwestern where he finished with two receptions on six targets for 28 yards before missing the remainder of the year.

Technically since Long only appeared in one game, he can now use this season as a redshirt year which would then leave him with two years of eligibility remaining.

Long joins linebacker Tyreem Powell as the only other player to be ruled out for the regular season on the Scarlet Knights roster.
