It was another game where that saying, “a tale of two halves” came into play, as the Scarlet Knights offensive struggles showed up once again the first half as they shot 38.7% from the field, 14.3% from three and got zero points from their bench. All this was happening, while Michigan was on fire from the field as they had 39 points on 56% from the field.

However, the second half was a complete switch up from both programs, as the Scarlet Knights got things going on the offensive end shooting 41.7% from the field while forcing the Wolverines to shoot just 32.1%. The Scarlet Knights stellar second half came mostly behind big performances from Derek Simpson and Cliff Omoruyi, who combined for 24 of their 34 total points in the final 20 minutes of play. The Scarlet Knights also got key contributions from Mawot Mag (15pts) and Jeremiah Williams (10pts, 5rebs, 2asts, 1blk) on the day.

It was a gutsy win for Rutgers as they not only snapped a three game losing streak, but they showed some real signs of life for the first time in a few weeks. Expect a much different Scarlet Knights team going forward.
