The future became official this morning for Ron Harper Jr. The senior shooting guard out of Don Bosco inked his national letter of intent to Rutgers, officially making him a part of the program.
“It feels great to sign and it’s also great knowing where I’m going next year,” Harper told Scarlet Nation.
Harper committed to Rutgers at the end of September and continues to remain in constant contact with the coaching staff.
“Coach [Brandin] Knight and I talk every day and our bond is really strong,” Harper said. “I think he’s a great coach and will be a good mentor for me.”
On what is a monumental day for Harper, he reflected on what drew him to Rutgers.
“Rutgers just showed me great hospitality and their plans for the future impressed me back on my visit. Ultimately, we ended up looking at Coach [Steve] Pikell’s timeline. He always brings teams from nothing to something and I think he can do that with me and Montez’s [Mathis] help.”
Harper will graduate from Bosco next spring and enter Rutgers in the summer of 2018 as a true freshman.
“My first season I want to be part of the first team all-freshman and all-conference.”
