Rutgers added another commitment today when Reggie Sutton of Calvert Hall (Towson, Md.) offered up his verbal pledge to the coaching staff. Sutton told Scarlet Nation why he chose the Scarlet Knights,
“I just felt after going up to Rutgers five or six times in the past, it was time to commit,” Sutton said. “I felt the most comfortable there with the coaching staff, the networking opportunities are great, the academics are great and overall I just felt really comfortable at being at Rutgers.”
Sutton also mentioned what the coaching staff’s reaction was like.
“When I told coach Blazek, he was excited, he kind of knew it was going to happen. He was really just excited for myself and my family too. When I also told Coach Kill he was just excited about what I bring to the program. All the coaches are great, they all reached out to me after they found out.”
Sutton’s recent trip to Piscataway came a little more than a week ago.
“I last visited camp on the 17th [of June], I talked to mostly all of the coaches on that day,” he said. “I also got a chance to talk to a lot of players during that time. I talked with O-line guys Manny Taylor and Tariq Cole. They were talking about the transition to the new offense and how it’s a great culture being installed in the program. After that I knew it was the place I wanted to be.”
This is the second Calvert Hall commit in as many years as Sutton joins RU incoming freshman linebacker Tyshon Fogg.
“Tyshon and I talked about Rutgers a lot in the past. We would see each other during school and we’d sit down talk about college landscape and all that stuff.”
