Part of the future of Rutgers basketball become etched in stone as shooting guard Peter Kiss officially signed on to become a Scarlet Knight. Kiss played his freshman season at Quinnipiac and averaged 13.3 points per game.

He will have to sit out this coming season per NCAA transfer rules, but will have three more years of eligibility remaining after that.

“It feels great to finally sign,” Kiss told Scarlet Nation. “It is sort of like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I am very excited about the opportunity at Rutgers that Coach [Steve] Pikiell and the whole coaching staff has given me. I feel like Coach Pikiell is building something special and I can't wait to get to work.”

Kiss also mentioned how integral the staff was in bringing him to Rutgers.

“I chose Rutgers because of the relationship I had with Coach Pikiell and Coach [Jay] Young. I loved the campus and the facilities. It is also a top 25 public school. I have a great relationship with Coach Young. It goes all the way back to his time at Stony Brook. He has seen me go from the player I was to the player I am and that is important.”

Kiss is also ready to help with the rebuilding process that has already begun under Pikiell’s direction.

“Some of my goals are to play in the NCAA tournament and maximize my full potential as a basketball player and also to bring as much energy to the RAC as possible.”

Kiss said he will enroll on May 30th and Rutgers is expected to release an official statement on his signing sometime today.
