A couple of days after class of 2019 quarterback Nick Kargman led Woodrow Wilson (Camden, N.J.) to a state championship berth, he landed his first offer. On Sunday night, Kargman received word that Rutgers had extended an offer.
The offer actually came via Rutgers head coach Chris Ash.
“Coach Ash said that he was impressed with how I was doing and to keep leading the team and get ready the state championship,” Kargman said. “He really didn't say much because he said he was game planning and watching film for the next game.”
And how did it feel to land for Kargman to land his first offer?
“It feels great to get the offer. A lot of hard work and long hours of training are paying off,” said the 6-foot-3, 175-pound pro-style quarterback. “It's great for my home state school to be my first offer. I know the coaches are great. It’s also a great school. They take care of the players and treat them like family and prepare everyone for their future.”
This season, Kargman has completed more than 60% of his passes while throwing for 1,754 yards and adding 25 touchdowns with just six interceptions.
Kargman has been up to Rutgers on previous occasions and is hoping to get back now that he has an offer in hand.
“I'm going to try to visit pretty soon,” he said. “I just got to finish out the season first, still have to play in the state championship game.”
Kargman is also looking to take his time through the recruiting process.
“I probably will decide next season. I want to take my time and look at all options. Recently, I’ve also been hearing from Temple and the University of Buffalo.”
