Rutgers has added a new commit on this early signing day as defensive end Jamree Kromah of Flowers High School in Springdale, Md. Kromah’s brother, Kay, is helping out with the recruiting process and explained why his brother chose Rutgers.

“When we look at schools, we were going from based on five criteria at the school and Rutgers had all five. We look at level of comfort for him socially, also comfort athletically, also how will they develop him, as well as academics, and final his relationship with his position coach. In this case, his relationship with Coach [Shane] Burnham.”

Kromah went on to talk more about what stood out about Burnham.

“I liked Coach Burnham’s mentality. He wants Jamree to be ferocious, dominant on the line and play with an edge every single play. I really think if you can couple that with his hard work ethic and his athletic ability, then it can really maximize his potential at Rutgers.”

Kromah took an official visit to Rutgers recently and was actually committed to Old Dominion at that time.

“On the visit, the comfort of the coaches stood out a lot. The coaches knew everything about him and his family,” Kromah said. “Add that in along with a chance to play early and gain experience in the Big Ten. He really enjoyed the trip.”

Rutgers also has everything Kromah is looking for to reach his overall goals.

“Jamree’s original plan is to make it to the NFL, and he feels that Rutgers can get him there.”
