Four-star Micah Clark recaps Rutgers in-home visit

The Scarlet Knights' 2016 season ended just a few days ago, which led to the coaching staff's quick resilience on the recruiting trail. Since Sunday, RU coaches have already had multiple in-home visits with key targets and current commits.

The first of those visits were made to Rutgers' top-rated commit in the class of 2017.

Sunday morning, not 24 hours after the season had ended, head coach Chris Ash and offensive line coach AJ Blazek were up bright and early visiting Micah Clark and his brother Jamaal Beatty, both of whom are longtime RU commits.

“The in-home visit was amazing,” Clark told Scarlet Nation. “Coach Ash and Coach Blaz came over for breakfast. My family and I cooked breakfast for all of us. Then we talked about the transition from high school to college and mostly how we’re hoping to have someone helping us with the changes.”

The two brothers admitted that they didn’t have many concerns. However, Micah did have one important question to ask the staff about the dorm rooms, and his reason why might come as a surprise.

“I didn’t ask much. I was mostly asking about the dorm rooms and if I was allowed to pick whom I wanted to dorm with," Clark said. "My brother and I want to dorm with other recruits instead of each other so we can build stronger bonds with guys in our class.”

The four-star offensive lineman went on about how good the in-home visit went and mentioned that he feels like the coaches bonded with his family even more.

“When we were all eating breakfast together it was like they were already a part of the family,” Clark said. “We’ve just built that strong of a bond with these coaches over time.”

Next on Clark’s to-do list is an official visit to Rutgers, as he and Beatty have plans to check out Rutgers this weekend with a host of other recruits. Both brothers also plan on enrolling early, so be on the lookout for the duo during spring practice.
