This past weekend marked the official visit for Rutgers commit Adam Korsak. The Australian punter will soon arrive permanently in Piscataway as a spring semester enrollee in the class of 2018.

Korsak spoke with Scarlet Nation about his weekend at Rutgers.

“I got in on Friday and the visit started around noon. I was dealing with some academic stuff with some of the academic advisors; just sorting out all the national visas and stuff like that. After that. we went to the Hale Center. I got a chance to spend a lot of time with Coach [Toby] Neinas. He works with the kickers and punter a lot. We finally met each other face to face, we’ve been talking on the phone and through email a lot.

“We talked about the different style of kicks we can do and it was enjoyable. We also talked about family and stuff like that.”

Korsak also spent some time with the other RU specialists.

“My player host was Justin Davidovicz the kicker. He’s a really nice guy, he also introduced me to Billy Taylor, the long snapper, along with some of the other specialists,” Korsak said. “I think it’s important that we have a good relationship with each other. I look forward to be working closely with him, when it comes to holding and punting. We got along great and hopefully he said the same thing.”

Over the weekend, there was also some leisure time for the visitors.

“My favorite part of the trip was going go-karting on Saturday. That was real cool and all the coaches came and a few of the players and hosts came too,” Korsak said. “Head Coach Chris Ash jumped in the go-kart and I was racing him. I’m a bit lighter than him so I won, it was real fun.”

The recruiting process and college game itself will be a new experience from what Korsak has grown accustomed to in Australia.

“Back in Australia we don’t really have an emphasis on college sports at all,” he said. “Seeing how much people love Rutgers, is amazing. Obviously, it’s a pretty large campus, but it’s beautiful. Going around campus and seeing the R everywhere, it was pretty strange. But it’s amazing because we get nothing like that back home. There is a lot of pride in Rutgers athletics.”

Korsak expects to arrive at again at Rutgers Jan 16th and is looking forward to life in the classroom as well as on the football field.

“I just really want to get started on my degree again. I’ve studied two years in Australia learning about sports management, I’m really looking forward to studying at Rutgers and continuing my degree. I’d also like to get into the weight room and start making some progress. I’m hoping to add some power, flexibility, and obviously maintain some of the durability I’ve been able to attain the last couple of year. I don’t have some specific goals in mind, I’m just looking forward to competing with the other punters.”
