Rutgers has been exploring transfer targets along the offensive line in recent days and an offer went out on Tuesday to former Louisiana-Monroe tackle Willie Tyler.
Tyler stands at 6-foot-7, 330 pounds and was once a Texas pledge after going to JUCO in Iowa. the Scarlet Knights staff is confident he could make an instant impact should he commit to the program.
The Racine (WI) native spoke to the site about the talk he had with head coach Greg Schiano. He's now even more of a believer in him and understanding of what he has accomplished in Piscataway during his two tenures.
“It was very educational,” Tyler told The Knight Report. “From 2001-11 he turned it around. He had Rutgers at No. 7 in the nation, they had the most active NFL players, they had winning seasons, then he went to the NFL and came back wanting to make a change. They had a better season than last year. It was all great knowledge. When he talks, all you do is soak it in because it’s valuable.”
