Rutgers commit Bo Melton earns four-star ranking

Rutgers’ recruiting class of 2017 can now boast a trio of four-star recruits as Cedar Creek athlete Bo Melton earned his fourth star, joining Micah Clark and Tyshon Fogg as the the other RU commits with that elite status.

“It feels really good to get that fourth star,” Melton told Scarlet Nation. “I've been waiting for a little bit to get the honor. I was hoping it would come a little sooner than it had, but it feels great to finally have it.”

Melton’s bump also bumped the Rutgers team ranking up to No.15 in Rivals.com’s national rankings.

During his commitment, Melton’s offer list stretched into the twenties and since he verbally committed to Rutgers, several teams have continued to pursue him.

“Schools like Virginia Tech, Michigan and Duke all still try to talk to me but I'm solidly committed to Rutgers,” Melton said.

Meanwhile, Melton is playing the part of a recruiter for Rutgers.

“I'm currently working on [Fred] Hansard. I'm in his ear quite a bit,” Melton said. “I'm pretty sure that if it all works out, he will come to Rutgers. I also talk to Markquese Bell pretty often too.”

The start of Melton’s senior season is just on the horizon and he has been very busy on the practice field over the last few weeks, prepping for his final go-round at the high school level.

“Right now, I'm just getting ready for the season. We scrimmaged Atlantic City and Winslow this past Wednesday,” Melton said. “It went well. I was playing running back, wide receiver and even safety on defense.”

The future Scarlet Knight was also specific when he talked about what part of his game he is working on for the upcoming season.

“I'm starting to work on lowering the shoulder a bit more and taking my game to the next level.”
