More on Olakunle Fatukasi commitment to Rutgers

Rutgers has now landed five commits in five days with the latest coming from Brooklyn linebacker Olakunle Fatukasi of Grand Street Campus. Rutgers has been on Fatukasi for some time as he has quietly been one of the top 2017 prospects in the entire state of New York.

New York area recruiter and RU defensive backs coach Bill Busch is credited with helping bring Fatukasi to Piscataway.

“Coach Busch was my main recruiting and he really showed the love and always kept talking about how bad he wanted me to come to Rutgers,” Fatukasi told Scarlet Nation.

Fatukasi has been to the RU campus numerous times and has liked what he’s seen from the new coaching staff.

“I just love how all the coaches are just building strong relationships with all the players. They always have a fun, but there are hard workouts,” Fatukasi said.

Rutgers has quickly built a strong pipeline to Grand Street Campus with alum Kamaal Seymour set to begin his redshirt freshman season at defensive tackle while wide receiver Ahmed Bah is part of the incoming freshman class of 2016.

“Ahmed Bah basically just told me congrats on the commitment and just to keep working on my game and getting better,” Fatukasi said. “He always told me before I committed to make the best decision for me and to make sure I was comfortable at my future school.”

Fatukasi also welcomed the chance to bring an end to his recruitment, one that included offers from schools such as Boston College, Maryland, Syracuse, Temple and UConn among others.

“Now that it’s over, it feels like I don’t need to worry about recruiting anymore,” he said. “I just need to focus on getting my team better and working on my own game as well.”

And what is next now for Fatukasi?

“I don’t plan on celebrating. I plan on actually going to work harder and plan on getting better.”
