This past weekend marked a much-anticipated return to Rutgers for New England Patriots safety and former Scarlet Knight Duron Harmon. Along with Mohamed Sanu, Harmon was a guest head coach for the annual scarlet-white spring game this past Saturday.

Harmon’s return trip to Rutgers this past weekend was his first in a while, although he admitted that he continues to watch his alma mater throughout the fall.

“Saturday’s are like a walk-through day or a travel day depending if it is home or away. That is the day you can kind of sit back, relax and enjoy your family,” Harmon said. “I get to watch football a lot. We get the Big Ten Network, so I am always watching. I will say one thing, I love what Chris Ash has done with the program.

“…I think this spring he is instilling his philosophy. He has a hard-working football team that continues to compete. He talks about it all the time. I am excited.”

Harmon was a two-year starter at Rutgers and the team has not seen a safety of his caliber since he was selected in the 3rd round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

However, he attributed his success to a lot of extra effort.

“I was not a major recruit. I was a three-star guy from Delaware who wanted to get better and wanted to go to the NFL,” Harmon said. “On all those Saturdays when I put in the extra work, that is what made the difference. Mo and I got where we are because we continued to put in that extra work. That is something we continue to do. We are just workers. That is what the Rutgers program is about and that is what it is going to continue to be about.”
