Tim Barrow eyeing up early playing time at Rutgers

Signing day has come and gone and now Rutgers will have two more cornerbacks set to compete for playing this summer as true freshman. Tim Barrow of Tottenville High School (Staten Island, N.Y.) is one of those two cornerbacks who has a prime opportunity to snag some playing time this season.

“[Rutgers Defensive Backs] Coach [Bill] Busch talks to me about that all the time,” Barrow said. “That is why he stays on me 24/7 about my work. He has been saying that I have a chance to get right on the field. I know I have to earn it and that is what I am going to do. I am very excited about it.”

Barrow’s future actually became official a couple of weeks ago when he signed his national letter of intent to Rutgers.

“It was great to sign and actually get everything over with and have the recruiting process done,” Barrow said. “My signing day went pretty well. I had my family there and my coaches were also there. It was a great environment and just a great day.”

Barrow also recalled the most memorable part of the recruiting process.

“The best part of it was probably the letter. Getting letters all the time in the mail was fun. A lot of the schools show love by the amount of letters. It feels good to have something in the mail like that with your name on it and getting requests to go see schools.”

Now that Barrow is a Scarlet Knight, he has been busy with the workout program that was sent to him by the RU coaching staff.

“The workouts are something else. They are preparing me for what is going to happen at Rutgers,” Barrow said. “I am glad I got it early and got started on it. It really pushed me to the limits and I can already see the results on my body.”

In the next few months, Barrow has plans to make some trips down to Rutgers from his home in nearby Staten Island, N.Y.

“I do want to get a feel for the scheme and stuff like that. I know the facilities like the back of my hand, but now I just want to get a feel for it because that it is going to be my home for the next four years.”
