Tim Barrow closing in on arrival time at Rutgers

Rutgers incoming freshman cornerback Tim Barrow is rapidly approaching the point when he will come in and compete for playing time in his first season as a Scarlet Knight. The Tottenville (Staten Island, N.Y.) senior will enroll at Rutgers on June 25th and that month should have a different type of feel.

“As soon as June hits, I am going to be completely focused on the season coming up,” Barrow said. “Right now, I am focused on training. But as soon as June hits, I am going to be locked onto that first game against Washington.”

Barrow’s last trip to Rutgers came during the weekend of the spring game.

“It was real good. I had a great time,” Barrow said of that visit. “I was hanging out with the players and spoke with the new cornerback commit Jarrett Paul. I had a great time talking to him. We were talking about his decision and we were all happy that he was coming to Rutgers. It puts more depth at our cornerback spot.”

Barrow also had a chance to catch up with some of his future teammates after the spring game.

“Everybody is great in the locker room. Everybody is cool,” Barrow said. “That is one thing some people and the media doesn’t see; how the relationships are inside the locker room. Everybody just clicks.”

The coaching staff also had a message for Barrow about playing early, one that has been consistent for a while.

“Coach [Bill] Busch stays on me all the time about it. He says I better be ready to play right away,” Barrow said. “I tell him all the time I am going to be ready. I am excited for camp."
