Despite missing one of their top players today in Caleb McConnell who was taken out of starting lineup last minute due to back spasms, the Scarlet Knights were still able to squeak out the win.

On offense, the team’s top scorer in guard Cam Spencer had a great first half where he scored 19 of his 22 total points. Rutgers also got solid offensive production out of Cliff Omoruyi who scored 12 points of his own. No one else scored in double digits today.

Now on the flip side is where the concern was originally, especially with McConnell getting injured in warm ups. However the defense was solid as they held Wisconsin to just 57 total points and 33.3% from the field. Not to mention they held the Badgers top two leading scorers (Hepburn, Essegian) to just 8 points on 2-of17 from the field.

It wasn’t the prettiest of games but end of the day a win is a win.

RHoops play of the day: Paul Mulcahy and Dean Reiber ran a perfect pick and roll for the slam dunk.

UP NEXT….

Rutgers will have a few days off before welcoming Michigan to Jersey Mike’s Arena for a Thursday night matchup.
