Reports: Pernetti out as athletic director

Tim Pernetti is out from his position as Rutgers Director of Intercollegiate Athletics this morning, per multiple reports. The ousting comes on the heels of a tumultuous three-day period following the release of practice tapes depicting fired men's basketball coach Mike Rice verbally and physically abusing players.
Pernetti came under scrutiny for not firing Rice at the time of his suspension in December. After the tapes were given to ESPN by former Rutgers assistant Eric Murdock and his legal counsel, Pernetti released the tapes on Tuesday.

Following Tuesday's showing of the tapes on ESPN's Outside the Linesa firestorm broke out calling for Rice's firing, which Pernetti did on Wednesday morning, after admitting he was "wrong" for not doing so in December.
During his time at Rutgers, Pernetti was the point-man in helping the University move to the Big Ten as well as negotiating a naming rights deal for High Point Solutions Stadium and engineering the renovation of the RAC.
