PA D-lineman Jaohne Duggan lands Rutgers offer

Liberty High School defensive lineman Jaohne Duggan of Bethlehem (Pa.) has used the camp circuit to kickstart his recruitment. The class of 2017 prospect attended two elite skills camps at Rutgers earlier this month and parlayed those performances into an offer.

“I went to camps on the 4th and the 12th [of June] at Rutgers and they pulled me to the side after the one-on-one drills and told me they were interested in me,” Duggan said. “When they brought me down the second time, they wanted to offer me, they just needed to get my paperwork together with my transcripts and stuff like that. Then, I got the call [Saturday] from Coach [Shane] Burnham and he said we see you having an immediate impact when you get here and we really want you. He wanted to let me know that they are offering me a full scholarship to Rutgers University.”

The offer was also Duggan’s first.

“I was surprised because I didn’t know they were going to offer me that soon,” he said. “I was very excited. They want to get me down there again and talk to me more. I am looking to get down there July 30th.”

Duggan is checking in at 6-foot-2, 270 pounds and can play a variety of positions on the defensive line.

“At Rutgers, they see me as a 3-technique, but I can also play on the edge. I try to be as versatile as I can,” Duggan said.

Yesterday, Duggan attended a camp at Boston College, although that is one of the limited number of offseason events he’s attended thus far.

“I have not really been to any big camps. The one at Rutgers was like my first one. It is exciting to finally start getting some attention. I am also going to try to get to camps at Penn State and Virginia Tech in July.”
