Scarlet Nation has confirmed with sources that Rutgers is expected to add a new assistant coach to the staff this week as Nunzio Campanile is set to make the jump from high school to the college ranks.

Campanile is expected to fill the staff vacancy left by wide receivers coach Jafar Williams, and will coach the running backs. This would mean Lester Erb would potentially transition to coaching the wide receivers.

Campanile took over as Bergen Catholic head coach in 2010 and brought a state title to the school this past season, its first since 2004. Before taking over at Bergen Catholic, the 41-year old Campanile served as the offensive coordinator at Don Bosco for 10 years.

Campanile’s brother, Anthony, was a former Rutgers assistant coach, but headed to Boston College in January of 2016, shortly after Chris Ash took over the Rutgers football program.
