More on Rutgers Football’s win over Purdue

In a wild back-and-forth game Rutgers came out victorious over Purdue 37-30 to snap a four game losing streak and improve to 2-4 on the season.

With graduate transfer quarterback Noah Vedral banged up following last week’s 48-42 3OT loss to Michigan, junior Artur Sitkowski got the start and had an admirable day going 18-27 for 141 yards and two touchdowns to senior wide receiver Shameen Jones. Sitkowski was able to keep a clean sheet as well as he did not turn the ball over.

While Sitkowski got the start, the Boilermakers got a heavy dose of Johnny Langan as well as the junior had 21 carries for 95 yards. While he did not throw the ball much, going 4-4 for 95 yards, he did throw a 62-yard touchdown pass to sophomore running back Kay’Ron Adams.

Aron Cruickshank got in on the party too as the junior transfer had a 100-yard touchdown return in the third quarter that cut Purdue’s lead to 30-27 and turned the momentum in Rutgers’s favor.

Rutgers will look to make it two wins in a row when they return home to take on Penn State next Saturday.
