More on Rutgers Football's triple OT loss to Michigan

Although they gave an unbelievable effort, Rutgers continued their losing ways as they fell to Michigan in triple overtime 48-42 to drop to 1-4 on the season. This marks the sixth straight season the Scarlet Knights were defeated by the Wolverines.

Despite jumping out to a 17-0 lead early and a bounce back game from quarterback Noah Vedral in which he went 29-43 for 381 yards and recorded three touchdowns, the Scarlet Knights were unable to overcome their mistakes as they recorded 12 penalties for 100 yards and missed what would have been a game-winning 45-yard field goal from Valentino Ambrosio in the first overtime.

After a brutal beginning to the game where they could not get much going on offense, the Wolverines made the decision to pull junior quarterback Joe Milton in the second quarter for sophomore Cade McNamara and the move paid dividends as the Reno, Nevada native carved up Rutgers’ defense to the tune of 27-36 for 260 yards and accounted for 5 touchdowns. While the Scarlet Knights recorded their most ever points against Michigan, it was not enough as Defensive Coordinator Robb Smith’s unit fell just short and finished the game allowing 495 total yards.

Rutgers will return to action next Saturday when they travel to take on Purdue at 4 p.m. (ET) on FS1.
