Travis Jones talks commitment to the Scarlet Knights

Rutgers continues to add more out of state prospects as it received a commitment today from class of 2018 offensive tackle Travis Jones of Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven, Conn. Jones committed during an unofficial visit today and spoke with Scarlet Nation and explained why he chose Rutgers.

"The thing that made me commit to Rutgers is that the team is like a brotherhood,” Jones said. "Today I had a chance to meet some of the coaches today and I saw where all the players live. Also, I saw where some of my future classes will be. My favorite part of the visit was meeting some of the players.”

One of the main reasons Jones committed is because of the coaching staff. When he informed the staff he committed, one coach in particular showed a good deal of emotion.

"When I told Coach Chris] Ash that I was committing, he was pretty happy. After that I told Coach [AJ] Blazek, he came through the door blowing a whistle and just gave me a big hug after too,” said Jones.

Special teams coach Vince Okruch is responsible for recruiting in the area of Connecticut and met with Jones today.

"I also got a chance to speak with Coach Okruch. He seems like a a guy who is just never going to lie to you," Jones said. "We mostly spoke about academics and how I would be with some good people over at Rutgers.”

Jones is now the sixth commitment for the Scarlet Knights in the month of June.
