Hampton commits to Rutgers

Another early commitment is in for Rutgers as the Scarlet Knights picked up their fourth pledge of the 2014 recruiting class today. Nottingham cornerback Saquan Hampton made his commitment to Rutgers early this evening during an unofficial visit to Piscataway.
"Yes, I committed," Hampton confirmed to Scarlet Nation.

Rutgers, UConn, Penn State and Villanova had been recruiting the 6-foot-2, 187-pound cornerback.
"A lot of teams who saw my tape were saying they like my speed and stuff like that. I spend a lot of time in my offseason working on my hips," Hampton said.
Of all the teams looking at Hampton, Rutgers had been in contact the most.
"Rutgers has been in contact with me almost every day. I was hoping they would offer," Hampton said. "Rutgers says they like my size at corner."
Hampton also brings a special teams value to the equation.
"I return kicks and punts," he said. "During my sophomore season I returned a few punts but last season is when I really started returning punts and kicks."
Hampton made the trip up to campus today with teammate Jameel Bailey.
"They didn't want me to attend the junior day because they wanted another visit so they could spend more time with Jameel and I," Hampton said.
Stay tuned for much more on Rutgers' latest commit.
