2021 LB Hamilton commits to wrestle and play football for Rutgers

Rutgers Football has landed their third verbal commitment for the 2021 class as outside linebacker Kyonte Hamilton announced his decision to both wrestle and play football for the Scarlet Knights in the future.

The Maryland native originally committed to Rutgers Wrestling back in August of 2019, but started to discuss with the previous football staff about the possibility of participating in both wrestling and football at the next level.

Earlier today on his visit to campus, coach Greg Schiano and crew made his dream come true as they offered him a full ride for football.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound prospect is listed as an outside linebacker in the Rivals database, but will likely end up transitioning to a defensive lineman in the near future.

Hamilton spoke with TKR back in late December when new head coach Greg Schiano first started showing interest.

“We just talked about how he was completely fine with me doing both. We also talked about past kids that have done it before. He named four or five guys that have played multiple sports, while playing for him. Coach also mentioned that he watched my tape and wanted me to come play for them.”
