Anderson And Woods Win At NCAA Regional


Nine more Cougar athletes secured at least fifth place or better and advanced to the NCAA Track & Field Championships next month in Fayetteville, Arkansas The Cougar contingent was led by sophomore men's 400-meter hurdler Jeshua Anderson and senior sprinter Justin Woods, who won the 200 meters at the NCAA West Regional in Eugene.

Woods also qualified in the 100 meters and his joined his sophomore sprinting teammate Marlon Murray in qualifying to the nationals in both events, with Murray finishing fifth in the 100 meters and third in the 200 meters. Junior distance runner Lisa Egami also finished third in her race - the women's 1500 meters - to advance. Men's 400-meter hurdler Barry Leavitt and men's 110-meter hurdler Robert Williams both finished fourth in their respective events and wil advance to Arkansas. Fifth-place finishers barely squeezing in for a trip to Fayetteville were senior Matt Lamb in the men's discus sophomore Marissa Tschida in the women's javelin and junior Sam Ahlbeck in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase.

Yesterday, men's high jumper Trent Arrivey finished fifth with a leap of 2.09 meters [6-10.25] and advanced to the NCAA championship.




Wazzu individuals will next compete at the NCAA Championship competition on June 10-13 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
