Recruit's Rap: Ghee making fast friends

Before hoping aboard a bus with his teammates and grabbing some lunch this afternoon, Brandon Ghee took a few minutes to work on his personal diary from the North Carolina-South Carolina Shrine Bowl.

One player from each team is doing a daily diary for Rivals.com this week. Ghee, one of the most sought after cornerbacks in the Southeast and a three-star recruit from Jack Britt High in Fayetteville, N.C., committed to Wake Forest two months ago despite scholarship offers from Tennessee and Virginia Tech and other ACC and SEC programs. This is his second diary entry as told through Rivals.com's Andrew Skwara.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Yesterday afternoon after our first practice I got a chance to meet Derek Nicholson (four-star linebacker from Winston, Salem, N.C.) and talked with Mohamed Massaquoi and Joe Cox (high school teammates at Charlotte Independence and Georgia commits). We are all becoming good friends and they are all really good guys.

We went to lunch and quickly came back for a second practice. It's obvious that our receivers and quarterbacks are really good and they have a certain connection and chemistry. They seem to know every route and know where each other are at all times.

The defensive backs are coming along really well, too, and we are going to have a really good defense. I've gotten a chance to get to know the other cornerbacks and safeties like Brian Dixon (UNC), Marquis Melvin (his roommate and a Duke commit), Stephan Virgil and Antonio Wardlow (Tennessee). They are all great guys and even though we are working against one another it's a friendly competition.

That night we went to a church and listened to a guest speaker, who was the head coach at Wofford (Chris Ayers). He said we should stay focused on our goals and to not change for anybody and to believe in God and Jesus Christ.

This morning, I got up really early at about 6:30 a.m., and ate breakfast before heading to practice. We are starting to really learn the system and the drills and not much is changing now. I'm getting pretty tired, but I feel good.

Tomorrow we are going to help with a mini-camp for some of the Shriner's kids which should be a lot of fun.
