Will Coleman Joins former Teammate at MSU Next Season
William Coleman who decided to pull the trigger on his pledge to MSU.Thursday was a big day for the MSU coaches and the future of the program as two new players joined the fold for the 2014 class. In addition to the commitment of Madison-Ridgeland offensive lineman Sean Rawlings, the Bulldogs got a bit of surprise out of Tyler (Texas) JC 3* defensive end
"I just felt like I was needed and wanted there," Coleman said. "They talk to you like they have your best interest at heart and they know what they're doing because it shows on the field. I haven't had a chance to see them play a lot but I keep hearing good things."
One of the major reasons that the Bulldogs were able to get Coleman on board was his relationship with current receiver Jeremey Chappelle who came over to Mississippi State from Tyler last season. The good things that Chappelle kept saying about State proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Coleman to make the call.
"Jeremey Chappelle was a big part of it. He really gave me the inside on players' perspective and how everything goes on in the program and what the coaches want to do. That was really all I needed to know is what I heard from him. When I heard about how great it was that was all it took."
Not only was Chappelle a difference maker, but the production of the defensive players under the coaches was a major factor.
"I want to get to a coach that has a track record at development and excellence and I think that (defensive line) coach (David) turner has what it takes to do that. I just want to get in there and soak it all up like a sponge and constantly develop as a player. I feel like Mississippi State is the best place for me to do that."
Now that Coleman is on board, he wants to take in some action at his future home. He expects to make it to Starkville soon.
"I'm going to be up there for a couple of games this year I'm pretty sure and I'll probably take an official after the season."
Coleman became the Bulldogs' 17th commitment of the class and filled a big positional need on the line.
