WMU wins MAC battle for Stone

Western Michigan's latest commit was in high demand, as the Broncos secured a verbal from Bedford, Ohio product Antione Stone on Wednesday.

Stone's commitment represents an important win in a Mid-American Conference recruiting battle, as six other conference rivals, including four in-state schools, offered the 5-foot-9, 179 pound athlete.

In all, Stone boasted nine offers, including WMU, Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Florida Atlantic, Hampton, Kent State and Ohio. Michigan State and Penn State were also showing interest.

While he has played multiple positions in high school, Stone is likely to play defensive back at WMU. Nothing is finalized in that regard, however.

Stone becomes the second Ohio product to join the class of 2014, joining Creston defensive back Trevahn Beery from the Buckeye State.

With the addition of Stone, a high two-star prospect with a 5.4 Rivals Rating, Western Michigan's recruiting class now ranks 32nd in the nation, and remains tops in the MAC by a wide margin.
