In-state junior day roundup

One of the more intriguing in-state prospects at Wisconsin's junior day last Saturday was Isaiah Lesure, a multi-sport standout from Mount Horeb.

The 6-foot-3, 170-pound wide receiver is lightly recruited at this point but came away impressed with the Badgers' program on his visit.

"It was a great experience," Lesure told BadgerBlitz.com. "The coaches and everyone were great. I think the program is very good and it's a place I would want to go."

Lesure, who also excels in track and basketball, is hearing from one other Big Ten school.

"Minnesota is looking at me," Lesure said. "Things are good with them and I'm going to see how everything is up there."

While on campus, Lesure was able to talk with another prospect from the Madison area, West High School's Terrell McFadden.

"The visit at Wisconsin was great," McFadden told BadgerBlitz.com. "I really liked the head coach (Gary Andersen) and the coaching staff. It went well."

McFadden, another junior wide receiver, is hearing from a few more schools in comparison to Lesure.

"Some other schools that are looking at me are North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois State, Illinois and Michigan State," McFadden, 5-foot-11, 160 pounds, said. "Wisconsin likes me at cornerback but the rest of the schools like me at wide receiver."

Michael Ruf had a longer drive from Darlington to Madison, but the 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive lineman had nothing but positive things to say after his junior day experience.

"It was awesome," Ruf told BadgerBlitz.com. "I love it all there; the facilities, staff and emphasis on academics. Coach Andersen is awesome and I really hope to play there."

Ruf, who wored at linebacker as a junior, plans to visit Northern Illinois, Ball State, Purdue, North Dakota State, Minnesota and Valparasio this summer.

Arrowhead linebacker Sam Seonbuchner, 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, arrived on campus with five scholarship offers but did not receive as much attention as he would have liked from the staff.

"Overall the visit went well," Seonbuchner told BadgerBlitz.com. "I was able to see all their new facilities, which are top-notch, and I got to see them practice. I got a good feel for Madison.

"But I was not able to speak with the coaches while on campus."

With offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Iowa State, North Dakota State and Ohio, Seonbuchner said his next visit could be to Minnesota.

"I plan on visiting Northern Illinois again and maybe Minnesota," he said.

Like Seonbuchner, Brookfield Central offensive tackle Luke Rasmussen has an early scholarship opportunity. North Dakota has offered the 6-foot-7, 250-pound junior.

"The visit to Wisconsin was really good," Rasmussen said. "We got to tour all of their facilities and see some of their new equipment. We also got to meet with some of the coaches.

"All-in-all it was a great experience."

Rasmussen, who is also a standout basketball player, is hearing from a number of schools in the Big Ten.

"I got invited to Minnesota's junior day and I'm going to try and swing up there," he said. "I'm also going to try and see Pittsburgh and Michigan State practice and I was invited to Iowa State's junior day. I'm going to try and visit Harvard as well."

Rasmussen's recruiting contact from UW, Ben Strickland, was a graduate of Central High School before playing for the Badgers.

And fresh off breaking a 31-year-old school record in the long jump, Madison Memorial's Daurice Fountain made the short trip to Madison this past Saturday.

"It went really great," Fountain said. "I really like the new coaching staff."

The 6-foot-2, 165-pound wide receiver/defensive back visited a handful of times last fall and is also hearing from Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska and Pittsburgh, among others.
