Gault gearing up for camp

Wisconsin already has one in-state offensive lineman -- Arrowhead's George Panos -- committed in its 2014 class.

By the end of his junior season at Monona Grove, it wouldn't be surprising to see Jaden Gault join the offer list.

The 6-foot-6, 285-pound tackle will have a chance to impress the Badger coaching staff during camp later this month.

"I'm just going to go in there and give it my all and see what comes out from that," Gault told BadgerBlitz.com. "If they offer that would be great, but just being able to work with these coaches at the camp is an honor itself.

"If I perform well then I think an offer is realistic but with that camp, I'm just going to take one rep at a time and I'm not going to think about the offer. Just going as hard as I can and learning from the coaches."

Like Panos, who was offered by Nebraska before he committed to UW, Gault is starting to receive interest from the newest addition to the Big Ten.

"Other teams showing strong interest right now have been Nebraska, Michigan State and a lot of schools like Central Michigan and South Dakota; schools coming in on a daily basis basically during the spring recruiting period.

"I will be camping at Nebraska this weekend and I'm all set for Wisconsin's first three-day camp. Nebraska has been showing a lot of interest."

Gault, who has visited Wisconsin unofficially no less than four times, is also seeing some gains in the weight room during his preparation for the 2012 season.

"It's been going well," Gault said. "Weight-wise I went from 270 to 285 pound and I'm 6-foot-6 without shoes. My bench and squat have all gone up a lot; I've added 60 pounds on the bench in about three months.

"What I'm planning on doing is after the two camps in June, I'm going to have July to focus up on our football season."

Wisconsin's 2014 in-state is stocked on both sides of the line. Gault, Panos and Brookfield Central's Luke Rasmussen all figure to be high-major players while defensive tackles Craig Evans and Brandon Hines have received a good deal of attention this spring.
