RCS Chicago: Loaded with MSU targets

The Chicago Armour Camp will be held this weekend on Saturday. In addition to several Spartan commitments, multiple top recruiting targets will be on hand, including running back Chris James. Below is a preview of the event.

  • Spartans represent in trenches:

    It should be a fun day for several future Spartans as they will no only get to work together, but also go against each other as well. Offensive tackle Chase Gianacakos, center Brian Allen and defensive lineman Enoch Smith Jr. are all expected to be on hand.

    The trio of future Spartans will certainly have an opportunity to get to know each other better as well as speak with other top recruits. will be keeping a close eye on all three future Spartans and get feedback from them about their performances. will have plenty of video of all 3 players in action.

  • Spartan targets:

    RB Chris James of Notre Dame School for Boys of Niles, Illinois:

    James was offered by the Spartans back in early March after visiting. The Spartans are viewed as one of the teams to beat for his services. He also has scholarships from Iowa, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Minnesota and Arizona State among others.

    LB Clifton Garrett of Plainfield North High School in Joliet, Illinois:

    Garrett is one of the top ranked players in the nation for the class of 2014. He holds over 30 scholarship offers from coast to coast. Garrett plans on trimming his list of suitors down this summer.

    LB Nyle Morgan of Crete-Monee High School, Illinois:

    Another Illinois linebacker with over 30 scholarship offers, Morgan is a Rivals100 recruit. Morgan has indicated he plans on waiting until after his senior season and taking official visits before he makes a decision.

    DB Lamar Dawson of Chicago St. Rita High School, Illinois:

    Dawson visited Michigan State a few weeks ago and was offered a scholarship. Since that time, his stock has exploded and multiple other programs have joined the race for his services. The Spartans will be tough to beat for the 6-foot-0, 190-pound prospect.

    ATH Tommy Mister of Chicago St. Rita High School, Illinois:

    Mister was offered by the Spartans last week after the staff stopped into his school. The Spartans see Mister as a player that could play either running back or wide receiver at the next level. Mister has offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas and Notre Dame.

    DL Billy Hirscfeld of Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Illinois:

    Hirschfeld was offered by the Spartans back in the winter and he visited East Lansing back in January. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound prospect is being heavily pursued by not only Michigan State, but the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Wisconsin Badgers.

    LB Brandon Lee of Lawrence Central High School in Indianapois, Indiana:

    Lee visited Michigan State for a spring practice and was offered by the Spartans at that time. Lee is rated a high 3-star recruit and holds scholarship offers from over a dozen BCS programs. The Spartans are hoping to get him back on campus this summer with his family.

    RB Jeff Jones of Washburn High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota:

    The 4-star running back made a commitment to Minnesota back in the winter, but he has since indicated that he is looking at other options. Michigan State is one of the teams that have offered and Jones wants to visit some other schools this summer to see what options are available to him. will have details about the Armour Camp and how the above prospects performed.
