Augustin leading a fast attack
The book on D.J. Augustin coming out of high school included questions about his ability to finish around the rim. Through 14 games, Augustin has shot down that myth with his knack for finishing drives with tough scores as well as dishing out more than six assists per night.
While the ability to finish around the rim against college big men has surprised many around the nation, Augustin's ability to lead a team and control the pace of a game has not. And he's not just leading any team. He's helped quite possibly the youngest team in college basketball get out to an 11-3 record.
Entering Big 12 play, the former McDonald's All-American ranked sixth in the nation in assists, averaging 6.6 per game and leading the No. 8-ranked offense in college basketball (86.4 points per game).
After playing well in the first seven games averaging 9.3 points and 6.6 assists, the floor general has taken his game to another level since his dominating performance in a 76-75 win over LSU. Augustin torched the Tiger defense for 25 points, six rebounds and five assists in the emotional win and has not looked back.
