A classic 'Beilein kid' is one Mr. Jon Leuer

If you were to concoct a John Beilein player, his name would be Jon Leuer.

Leuer's Minnesota Magic Elite was playing in the Round of Eight on Wednesday of the Las Vegas Big Time AAU basketball tournament, which is an amazing compliment in itself.

"You know teams see us come out and think 'Oh, they're just a bunch of white boys from the Midwest and kind of laugh at us," Leuer's dad, Mike, said.

At 6-foot-10, 200, Leuer of Orono, Minn., represents the new Pittsnogle wave of college basketball.

Beilein was among 15 head coaches who attended an open gym at Orono High last week, and apparently offered Leuer through his coach, Mike Amos.

Arizona State, DePaul, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Washington State and Louisville have all offered the shooter.

Would he like to remain in the region? Minnesota reportedly has run out of its allotment of scholarships for November.
