Linthicum has a Top 5
The last time BearTerritory checked in with Farmington, N.M., defensive end/tight end Brian Linthicum, the St. Anne's-Belfield star was just getting ready to exit school for the summer in Virginia and head out on a nationwide tour of campuses. With offers from Boston College, Duke, Michigan State, Ohio State, Cal, Virginia Tech, Purdue, and Syracuse, the all-state prospect had a number of stops to make.
For west coast recruiting fans that can't quite place the talented Virginia-based prospect, he actually hails from the beautiful "Four Corners" area of New Mexico. The city of Farmington, which is located in the San Juan River Valley and borders Colorado, Arizona, and Utah, is where Linthicum originally started playing the game. However, he transferred from Farmington high to St. Anne's-Belfield boarding school to get a taste of life on the east coast as well as adhere to a more challenging curriculum. By sporting a 1900 on his SAT and a 3.63 GPA, Linthicum has indeed risen to the challenge.
Linthicum actually repeated his junior year, but after finding out that he has more than enough credits to be a mid-term grad, the 2007 star could fall into a college's 2006 recruiting class by entering college in the spring semester. And that's always incredible news to coaches, whom usually have 1 or 2 spots left over for just that particular type of case.
