Olander is ready for big things in 2010
He hasn't always been the biggest or the fastest, but what Brennan Olander once lacked in those categories he more than made up in competitive drive and character. John Olander, Brennan's father, was a two sport athlete at Sacramento State excelling in football and baseball. Olander was an All-League selection at 3A North Valley High School, but believe it or not, football wasn't his best sport. At 6-1 275, Olander was a standout on the mat and worked his way to back to back OSAA Championships in '05 and '06. Olander's wrestling prowess was noticed by new head coach Jim Zalesky and Olander was lined up to wrestle for OSU in the 2006-2007 season.
Poised to make his presence felt on the mat, a love for football and interest by Coach Riley and the OSU staff intrigued Brennan to walk on to try and earn a spot on the football team. Olander's spring tryout went well and he earned a spot on the roster.
