BORO HIGH SCHOOL No player in the entire Shore Conference delivered more OFTEN on the big stage as Kelly Hughes did this season. Here is a quick round up of her hit list…She scored the winning basket in the closing seconds while scoring 19 points in Pt Boro DEFINING program victory against Rumson. She scored 26 points against Manasquan in Point Boro all important first meeting against Manasquan (FYI- she had 30 points against Manasquan in the States). She lit up RBC for 30 points in a second victory against the powerhouse. She scored 21 against Jackson in the SCT semi final as Pt. Boro dismissed Jackson Memorial for the 2nd time in the same season. She was one of the leaders in the Shore in scoring and took fewer shots maybe than any star in the Shore Conference. Thats because she went to the foul line 230 times and shooting over 90% from the LINE. Her ability to find open teammates in transition is 2nd to none. Her length and size was the key to the Pt. Boro 1-3-1. She may be one of the most compete guards we have seen in years. Her Shooting range can only be described this way…its SICK! The year, she and her Pt. Boro teammates put together was mind blowing. They mostly likely will finish in the Top 4 of my final Shore ranking and will end the season ranked in the state top ten. NOBODY SAW ALL THIS COMING! Kelly Hughes is only a Sophomore but easily one of the best players in the State…She was offered by Rutgers as a freshman and now U-Conn….Stanford…Notre Dame have all joined the party.
