It started out just like any other Monday morning for Weequahic linebacker Sidney Gopre. But by the time Monday night rolled around, a lot had changed.
Gopre visited nearby Rutgers University and brought an end to his recruitment when he committed to the Scarlet Knights a short while ago.
"Yeah, I just committed to Rutgers," Gopre verified Monday evening.
Gopre becomes the second New Jersey junior to make a verbal commitment this year.
Coincidentally, both commits have made their pledges to Rutgers. The other came less than a week ago when DePaul linebacker Justin Nelson joined the Scarlet Knights.
Gopre's offer list stood only at two but word just starting circulating about the immensely-talented linebacker. According to NJVarsity.com, he is among the top linebackers in the state.
"Every year we rank the top 30 kids in the state and I can't remember seeing a better linebacker on film in recent years," said NJVarsity senior recruiting analyst and Draft Season author Bobby Deren. "Gopre is definitely one of the top ten junior prospects in the state of New Jersey. He can do it all and is a perfect fit to play the weakside linebacker position at any BCS program."
Stay tuned for more on Rutgers' latest commit.
