Rutgers sets presser to announce Big Ten move
Later today at 2 p.m., Rutgers will hold a press conference and announce that it will accept an invitation to join the Big Ten.
The press conference will be held at Hale Center on the Rutgers campus where Tim Pernetti will address the media. Also in attendance will be University President Robert Barchi and Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany.
The conference can be viewed on ScarletKnights.com, SNY and the Big Ten Network.
It has been a whirlwind of a weekend throughout the scarlet nation as Rutgers moved to 9-1 on Saturday and remained undefeated in Big East play with a 10-3 win over Cincinnati.
Shortly after that victory, rumors began swirling about Rutgers joining the Big Ten. Yesterday, Maryland announced that it will join the Big Ten and multiple sources confirmed that Rutgers will follow suit today.
Maryland is set to join the league on July 1, 2014 but it is possible Rutgers could elect to pay a higher exit fee than the $10 million set by the Big East to join the conference at the same time.
