May 25, 2012Rutgers kicked off the holiday weekend in style, reeling in commitments from two prospects today. The first was Maryland running back Deontea Ayres, and the second was Bergen Catholic wide receiver John Tsimis.
Tsimis turned heads during his junior season by being the go-to guy on offense for a powerful Bergen Catholic squad. The 6-foot, 175 pound receiver put together a highlight reel that featured one improbable catch after another, many of which came against the area's top defensive backs.
NJVarsity.com ranked Tsimis as the #5 wide receiver in the state in its March 8th countdown. The site said the following about him in the accompanying article:
"This past season, Tsimis made it a habit of making one acrobatic catch after the other. Even when he didn't get that much separation, he often found ways to come down with the football. Tsimis may not be the biggest receiver, however he is polished and runs very good routes. His recruitment may not explode but whoever picks up Tsimis will get a quality wide receiver with a solid skillset."
Tsimis is the team's fourth recruit for the 2013 class, as well as the third from the team's home state. Stay tuned for more information on the commitment later.
