January 6, 2011Rutgers commit Quentin Gause ended his recruitment before this past summer, but he appears to still being victimized by internet rumors regarding his interest in Syracuse. Earlier today, Gause learned about those falsehoods just after his school day had ended.
"When school was over, I looked at my phone before I went to practice and there was a lot of text messages saying a lot of crazy stuff," said Gause. "I didn't even know what was going on until I looked at my computer and checked it out. It's just all talk, none of it's true. I'm fully committed to Rutgers University."
Such unwanted attention will come to an end on Signing Day when Gause inks his future in scarlet.
"I really just ignore all that talk and when Signing Day comes it can be over when I officially sign to Rutgers University. I can't wait to get to Rutgers and start chopping."
Gause is one of the more mature young prospects who has exhibited class and character throughout his recruitment. Even in the midst of these latest internet rumors, he spent his Thursday evening training for his future and not worrying about what untruths may have been written earlier in the day.
"I've been told by people in college already, just enjoy the rest of your senior year," said Gause. "I'm just enjoying the rest of my high school career. I'm getting ready to train with some guys that went to college before I go to Rutgers. So there will be a lot of preparation."
Gause is extremely excited to get to Piscataway and it was evident when he spoke about his future at Rutgers.
"You know how Miami has the U sign, I want to make the Rutgers chop the national phenomenon. So then people in Idaho will be like, 'oh that's the Rutgers chop.' I just can't wait."
